Land of Our Children
Land of Our Children was a collaboration between Gentle/Radical, National Theatre Wales and Natural Resources Wales made possible by Arts Council of Wales’s Connect and Flourish Fund.
For this project, 8 artists were selected to undertake a series of ‘hyper-local’ residencies. This meant they spent time in their ‘milltir sgwâr’ (square mile) uncovering, unearthing and untangling. Asking questions of themselves and the people around them. Looking at the micro to understand the macro. Each artist brought a unique view of the world around them. They were matched with mentors and interacted with specialists and scientists to help them explore their locality through the lens of their own lived experience. We asked them to question what these perspectives bring to the way we see and talk about the future of our communities, and the future of our natural environment.
For Nature and Us, the intention of this project was to explore how these individual creative voices could help highlight themes that are important to consider in public policy, and to contribute to the developing vision.
